Well my Hot August Night Tribute show was a great success. Sure I made a few mistakes, missed some chords, timing out a little but the feedback was awesome. Clubhouse was full and I got everyone singing, clapping and dancing. 19 songs all up. I had the whole show videoed so I could put together a promotional video for other venues. An excellent version of a terrific song. The original ‘Hot August Night’ remains one of the best live albums of all time: the range of songs. Your performance makes the song your own and is a fine tribute to the original.

Absolutely fantastic. Great performance, Ron. I must say in a sense I envy you… The show reminds me of the time when I also performed live and I miss those days very much.
A question (if you don’t mind my asking): was your guitar tuned to Eb? I’m checking my musical ear, as when I listened I didn’t have a guitar right at hand.

Yes your ear is correct. To play it in E I needed to drop it half a step. To play it in A I needed capo to high on the neck and the guitar sounded wrong for this song imho.

That was great Ron. I watched your strumming patterns and chord melodies closely. Fine use of mostly down strokes with well place upstrokes and just letting chords resonate, plus uncomplicated chord melodies that added a lot. Many of can learn from the work you’ve put into performing like this. Keep on posting!
