Yesterday, Sept 1, 2023, Jimmy Buffet passed away at the age of 76.
Jimmy Buffett, legendary ‘Margaritaville’ singer, dies at 76 (nbcnews.com)

He was a fantastic performer. Went to see him earlier this year in March ( Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band – Acrisure Arena) What a great show that was. Prior to the concert hanging out in the parking lot, the parties and costumes were so much fun. We saw many land sharks, lots of parrots and a few other strange looking people, it was awesome.
Since moving out to the coast, every summer we’ve had a “Cheese Burger in Paradise” evening. I had all of our guests sing along to a chorus before they could have their cheese burger - it was great fun.

A musician that I, and many more, will miss. RIP

Glen

RIP Jimmy you will be missed. Son of a son of a Sailor was the first JB song I learnt.

That’s too bad, everyone is dying! MY SIL has been to see him several time when he came to Detroit, she took a bunch of our nieces and nephews with her the last time and now most of them are JB fans.

Great band Great Vox.

Shane MacGowan has died at the age of 65.

Terribly sorry to hear this news. So many memories of listening to the Pogues during my school years and beyond back home in Ireland. What odds of Fairytale of NY for Christmas #1.

Ah heck, for no.
A truly gifted songwriter and his legacy will live on and long.
I had some sweaty nights bouncing around like a daft 'un at Pogues concerts back in the day.

I love the Pogues, and for me, Shane was a genius. Especially his lyrics, he was like a musical Brendan Behan. And of course, he also gave us the best Christmas song of all time!

Incidentally, if I do the next open mic, the song I will do is my favourite Pogues song, ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’.
