I haven’t done much of grade 2 but I think I saw that video because that’s the technique Wonderwall uses… I started that song before I was ready for it (I say that in hindsight) and it took me months get that strumming pattern up to speed! Music snobs roll their eyes at that song but it’s not easy

well , there’s a difference between listening to a song and playing it
I hate Adele’s songs but playing set fire to the rain was huge fun
Same for Coldplay , im’ not a fan at all but playing it is sheer fun

There aren t many choises of songs to chose from on module 8 …

Fair comment although I draw the line when it comes to learning songs by Adele :joy:

that’s what i thought too before trying it

I had a quick look and the songs that goes with the the stuck 3&4 chords lesson does not suit me
I hate Suzanne Vega , Greenday and Oasis …( and oasis is only available on the app ?! )
Guitar learning should be fun so I’ll skip those songs

I’ll only work on them with the perfect fast change practice

The F chord is a nightmare !

F definitely is a step up from the other chords!

My approach (and I don’t if this helps at all) was to learn F in isolation, just put my fingers in place and try to get it sound decent like that. Take my hand off then try again.

The next stage was song specific. The first song I wanted to play with F was Hurt by Johnny Cash with a Am to F transition. For me, my middle finger is the important one for F. If I get that in place then everything else follows (not always quickly but is improving). So with that Am to F, the most important bit (for me) is knowing that my middle finger has to move across 1 string (same fret, D to G string). My other fingers pivot round it. House of the Rising Sun has D to F which involves moving my middle finger across 2 strings (same fret). With a similar approach I can do C to F and G to F now as well. This has all taken time and I’m still working on speed and consistency. Maybe none of the above is useful, no problem, we all learn differently. Just know it takes time and with perseverance you’ll get there :+1:

and its only the F major 7 …

yeah thats what i did
an exercise for a minute just passing it
that’s also why i changed the passing chords to C G Am F major 7

I have few problems on blaze of Glory since its slow
but when its getting faster wow its becomes a catastrophe XD

I play different songs with an F with different rythm to get used to it + changing chords exercises

I should try to play while standing up its going to be a catastrophe too
the angle of the strings is so different , its like learning it all again

I’ve only tried to stand and play a couple of times just out of curiosity and it went about as well as you’d expect it would for a beginner guitarist! That’s something for another day (or year) in my schedule

Purely by chance, “Hurt” was a good song for learning F as well because it’s not a fast tempo (I say by chance because I didn’t know that when I decided it was a song I wanted to learn. It had other challenges, like arpeggios but I picked them up more quickly than the F chord

arpeggios are easy compared to the F chord !

my curiosity is : will it help relieve the pain in my left shoulder
its going to be easier for the left hand , harder for the right hand

2 interesting songs to add to my playlist

Nice  As soon as I heard Hurt by Johnny Cash I knew I had to learn it. There’s 2 distinct sections, playing arpeggios on Am, C and D in a loop then a section with some chords that’s easy to memorise and just needs 4 down strums per bar to sound pretty good. I suppose making a clean transition between the sections from one style to the other and back is the other thing to master.

The bonus is that it’s easy to go from playing along to the recording in an app to playing along to the original recording.

Lots of new chords to learn in the same time
