So… You will need a small practice amp. Isn’t that a reason as good as any? :innocent:

the backing track is a tad too loud
Its a work in progress / practice recording of Have you ever seen the rain by CCR module 10

Your playing of CCR is very good: consistent strumming, in time. The backing track is probably a bit too loud.

Well played.

thanks a lot for the feedback

Ill try to see if I can lower the volume of the app somehow
I can’t hear if i’m making mistakes with the app so loud

No can do … no way of turning down the sound :frowning:
I can only lower the sound on the daw , but it will also lower the guitar so it will be the same

I think it depends a lot on your setup, I’m pretty sure you have one of the Scarlett devices. Does yours have a button “Direct” on the front of it?

I’ll describe my setup and maybe you can adapt it to yours.

So I’m running the Justin Guitar app on my iPad Pro. I’ve got Garageband as my DAW but it’s literally only providing an electric guitar sound, not doing anything fancy with it. I’ve got my headphones on and if I strum my guitar I hear electric guitar sounds. There’s a knob on the front of the Scarlett that adjusts the input from the guitar and you can also adjust this in Garageband. It seems to be important that I have the Direct button on the front of my Scarlett selected. I then set the song playing and can hear that also through my headphones. As you say I have no control over that other than the volume dial on the front of the Scarlett but what I can do is adjust the volume of the guitar (either on the front of the Scarlett or in Garageband) to be at the desired level relative to the sound of the music.

I have no idea if any of the above is helpful but hopefully you can figure something out

Hi matt and thanks for your answer

The direct button is on
I dont use garageband , I record with OBS , its really easy to use
I couldnt make head or tail of garageband

true but since the sound of the app is also coming from the scarlett since i directed it there … then If i use the volume control it will reduce both the app and the guitar

I’m not talking about the volume dial, I mean either the dial on the Scarlett next to the guitar input jack or increasing the guitar signal in Garageband - maybe OBS can’t do this?

I only really use Garageband to get a sound from my guitar - I’d need to play around to actually record anything. I’ve not tried recording using it (yet). I just pick one of the amps and play. (On the iPad version you do need to go into the options and the setting to allow Garageband do run in the background).

Deborah, assisting on this requires me to understand what you are using and how you setup and record. If you don’t mind explaining that perhaps I can make some suggestions. I do use OBS and an Audio Interface to record.

I sent a PM to David ^^

Hi Deborah @MacOneill The YT videos below take you from complete beginner in GB to being able to record a song. Takes you step by step and assumes you don’t know anything at all. For me it’s the GB tutorial that is missing from the software.

There’s a heatwave coming so i wont play much till next wednesday or thursday :sob:

I love the challenge of the week on YS but I dont know what to do
Should i just play it as a challenge and leave as it is at the end of the week ? even if I still make mistakes ?
Or should I train on it until I play it well and make no mistakes ? it isnt a challenge anymore if I do that wont it ?

Deborah, simply make it your own challenge :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

If you don’t think it’s good enough by the due date, simply set a new date to challenge yourself :slightly_smiling_face: I think it’s most important that you like the song and will not get tired of it easily when practicing.

I saw that it will be 36 C over there soon. Really quite an extreme heatwave you got there…

I always want to practice the songs until I get them right but after a few weeks a got too many songs on my plate

Yeah its gonna be a nightmare again … way too hot

I hope that the 21° will be true on the 15th
