This is a real issue I have when I choose to play electric guitar and a backing track. I get it right for one track, move to my next song and have to start tweaking again. I think it’s a reason I play acoustic guitar more often than electric!

Nice consistent playing though :+1:

You might not be doing anything wrong. Tracks are often just recorded at different volumes and even a subtle difference will throw off the balance of backing track vs guitar.

It’s like when you try to do a random playlist of all of your favourite music which sounds great in theory until you listen and it varies from track to track whether you’re being deafened or not!

I like to sit away from my amp, making use of a wireless adapter for my guitar but then I have to use an additional Bluetooth device to control my amp from across the room. It’s all such a faff and I haven’t even tried to record electric guitar yet

Enjoy your soup

My index is muting the high e string when I change from C to the F cheat so Im working on my hand placement to avoid that issue

Today I went to my first guitar lesson with a teacher
He’s brit so its perfect !!!
I showed him what I learned so far here on JG , showed him my exercices for my warm up routine
He told me that it was great and to keep it up but just to try to place my fingers nearer the strings
easier said than done !
I showed him that I know the C major scale
I ask him to show me the hammers on and pulls off , I defenitely need to work on that !
he told me that I need to lower my thumb behind the neck to make a hammer on on the high E string with my pinky and same with the spider exercice , to reach the Low E string I need to lower more my thumb
he made me work on the A minor pentatonic scale , told me to learn it and to play it and to relax
He made me improvise with the A minor scale while he was playing a melody
thats so hard

He’s ok to help me learn and practice what’s on JG , I like it cause If im doing something wrong he can correct me but I also told hul that I can learn whatever he has in mind

there s also a melody on YS that I d like him to help me play cause I struggle with it

and in the afternoon , I did this recording of Losing my religion by REM :

My yousician subsciption ends at the end of november
I will probably not renew it
So far it helped me a lot to practice what I ve learned here
I ve been able to play on many many songs
But the path between JG and and YS differs now so I dont think that it will help me as much next year
Legato is in grade 6 here … no wonder that I struggle so much on YS …

It’s good to reflect like that. If after a month or two you decide that you miss something that YS gave you then you can pick it up again.

I will miss the melodies ; its very fun to play and is a great exercice for fingers independency but it would be too expensive to pay for just that feature

I know another website that maybe can be interesting to add to my JG journey
Thats the one I used to start learning guitar last year . I stopped because it was too expensive for me at the time … and I was also too busy

the gap between level 4 and 5 on YS is not a gap … Its the grand canyon !

Gold it at last !!!

I tried several songs ( 6 ) level 4 to find something new to work on
I golt gold on all of them except 1 , a song called Humble and kind by Tim McGraw
I will work on that one , its a strumming exercice , faster than what Im used to

I had fun playing a simplified version of Zombie By the Cranberries
I also had fun playing a simplified version of lean on me so maybe I ll play them again too

When To Move On?

You’ll know you’re ready to move on to [Module 11] when …

  • You have memorized the Weak Finger G chord. DONE
  • You have memorized the mini A barre chord. … will see it with my guitar teacher
  • You’re able to play the C major scale using alternate picking, keeping your rhythm consistent. DONE
  • You’ve learned at least one song using the Weak Finger G chord. DONE
  • You had some fun with La Bamba! ALMOST DONE
  • Optional but useful: You’re able to use the Push strumming pattern in a song ALMOST DONE WITH LA BAMBA SONG ON THE APP

I think I know why Lost on you level 5 seems so hard
there’s a lesson on strumming called strumming challenge at this level
since I ve not learned it yet , that might explain everything but since I will not renew YS I will probably not do this lesson
thats why I m searching for songs level 4 until my subscription ends

Im pretty sure that many members in the community do the same , they just dont write about it everyday

But Im glad that I did not quit like last year , I thought that the summer heat would make me stop and that I would maybe not find to will to come back

In my experience over the years, many just wing it ! Your focused and meticulous recording of practice, hopefully is a reminder to folks of what they should be doing in respect of there own approach.
