I listened to all the four tracks and would say, you are well on your track, Deborah!
Your strumming is solid and your chord changes are pretty fluent. For me, the faster ones sounded better and given the fact of the F-chord in CCR, you are doing a nice job.
Keep on doing what you are doing!

its really motivating to have a feedback so thank you very much

So far its only the F cheat not the barre chord but Im working on it

really ? thats great to hear that cause I had much doubts about that one
the strumming pattern is : DU U UDU in the CCR song
and the last up strum makes it really hard to change chord in time , I thought it felt rushed

I don’t feel that as a listener. You did your changes really smoothly.
I don’t know, if you already did Justin’s Strumming SOS or Strumming Dynamics course?
I found this to be helpful in addition to what is covered in the lessons. It makes aware of lots of things and guides how to practice strumming in an effective way. I did the courses during consolidation of Grades 1+2 and got a lot out of it.
But maybe you already cover this with your in person teacher.
Greetings!

well that song ( have you ever seen the rain ) was a strumming lesson with the teacher , i showed him how I played it with the app and then he gave me another strumming pattern to try something else , something faster

Ill see what he has to say about it in november ( no one to one lesson before the 20th of november )

For the SOS stumming i did a part of it only , trying to learn one step at a time

I’ve never used a backing track and when listening to your pieces I wasn’t sure whether you had made other guitar tracks that were part of the backing. Your Gretsh sounds good throughout. I have a Scarlet 2i2 but am an absolute beginner where recording is involved. I have been experimenting with the Scalet on OBS and hope to put up a video recording with my new guitar soon. Thanks for the replies.

im looking forward to see you play in a video

@MacOneill Just catching up with your posts. Here are some thoughts on playing the wrong notes from Andre Previn, conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra

I agree with the others here. Your timing is solid, strumming on the beat. Your chords sound cleanly fretted, I don’t think I heard any duff/muted strums. Your playing was consistent throughout, started well and continued until the end with no noticeable variations in timing. Your volume was also very consistent throughout. Well done!!

@ziggysden thanks a lot :slight_smile:
at first I thought you hinted that I was playing poorly with only bad notes

Day 220 / 44 weeks streak :

Did the spider exercice as a warm up and did the pinky exercises

Played Everybody hurts by Rem / cow boy chords to improve my power chords with ring finger instead of the pinky

Challenge of the week : a song called Song of the south by the Alabama / level 3 / Cow boy chords –>Done

grade 2 in JG :

module 11
Practiced the sus chords

Practiced fingerstyle for some minutes between D and G

Practiced fingerstyle : happy Birthday riff

Practiced the F chord on the chord trainer and played Losing my religion with the F barre chord
( full song )

Songs on the Musopia app :

Played The house of the rising sun at a low speed with the new strumming pattern given by my teacher ( module 11 ) at 112 bpm

Trying to learn You ve got to hide your love away /module 11 ( work on sus chords ) at 98 bpm , then tried it at 111 bpm, only playing beats 1 and 4

Guitar teacher :

Worked on the A minor pentatonic scale with legato and the alternate strumming

Practiced the C major scale while saying the notes on the neck aloud

Practiced the Sweet child of mine intro

Practiced Merry christmas everybody by Slade , helped by a youtube video
Played it using my ring finger instead of the pinky

Module 11 really feels like taking another step forward in the guitar journey
the 6.8 rythm and the fingerstyle introduction are another level

the 6:8 rythm :
I ve already played it since I ve played Everybody hurts by REM in cow boy chords
Its just real faster in house of the rising sun
Playing house of the rising sun with only beat 1 and 4 is easy even at full speed , thats when I try to play it with 6 beats thats where I start to struggle
keeping a steady sound with a consistent volume is my issue
the strumming pattern from my teacher is great but I can t play it faster than 112 bpm ( and im already glad being able to do that )
its DUD D DUD

So I did what Helen suggested and watched the lesson on 6/8 in strummin SOS
I think my problem is strumming all strings on beats 2 and 3 and 5 and 6 , in JS lesson he only strums the thicker strings
i should try that

I took me 4 to 5 months to learn how to play Losing my religion with a Fm7/C
I feel like House of the rising sun is the same and will take me weeks/ months of practiced before being able to play it

I also watched the lesson on the shuffle strum
weirdly enough its also something I m currently working on since its the strumming pattern for Merry christmas everybody by Slade

Now I ve made a post as long as one of Ziggy"s

Looks very similar to Normandie Deborah, green and verdant ! Not taken your recordings in yet but plan to do so. Great that you have put them out there for all to see. Those blues skies might be a little scarce in coming weeks !

Ì live in the "Beaujolais vert " , awful wine , but beautiful landscapes

Gimme your opinion when you ll do it please ^^

Sure , I like to have a skill assessment from the others once in a while , its helps a lot to progress and motivates

Yeah but drive east for a bit and the landscape may be a little poorer but the wines better.
All about perspective. Manche doesn’t do much bar the odd Cidre and I stopped drinking that at 14 !! But hey just a little to the east is Calvados and we all like a little Calva ??

As the Stones said “You can’t always get what you want but you can drive so far and get what you need”

Im doomed … I cant drive !
except my bicycle but I won t go far

Hi Deborah,
With such beautiful surroundings and only with a bike, you don’t need a car to enjoy…fabulous  :sunglasses:

No Guitar tomorrow cause Ill be too busy giving candies to trick or treaters
They’ll get candies and home made cookies and muffins

Oh I forgot :

My guitar teacher answered me saying :

" First of all congratulations, your recordings are all rhythmically very accurate.
Well done again, the chord changes are very fluent and rhythmically your playing is very solid here. "

I m real happy

He also gave an advice to ameliorate the articulation in my playing of hey ho !

I’d have to nod politely and check my dictionary when I got home if I was offered this advice :joy:

to be clearer : " try cutting the first chord sometimes a little shorter as well as putting an accent on it to show that it is a stronger beat. "

What I am hearing here is solid timing and clean tones especially on chord changes. No hesitancy but a positive and competent approach to each song. Rhythm is king and without that you have nothing. Your dedicated practice reflects this in all 4 recordings your are focused and in the pocket. Great stuff chapeau ! Pop some Cote Du Wotsit and celebrate !
