Mac's learning log

I went to my guitar lesson this morning
it was a great moment and half an hour is really not enough
My guitar teacher keeps on saying that half an hour is not enough for me

We started the lesson with a Quizz : What did we work on last week ?

We did some music theory related to the Blues and ear training ( Major against minor )

Then we worked on Mississippi Queen
This song is back in my practice routine this week and Ill re record it on sunday

we finished on a little riff practice for bending
Yeah my first bending !!!

Summer is nearby now and im worrying cause I won’t see my teacher for 4 months
thats a lot !!!
Ill try to see with him what we can do about it

JG app : Rhiannon , I love Fleetwood Mac so its a real pleasure to play this song

I’m not familiar with either song but they both sounded great to me. Your barre chords seemed spot on in the first one and your rhythm never wavered in the second one

thanks a lot

Both sound great. Nice work!

thanks

I re listened to the recordings

I cant do any better ( yet ) on Petite Marie so Ill put it aside and maybe work on the melody instead ( level 4 )

For Rhiannon, I guess I can be a bit more punchy when the chorus starts , the song sound a little flat

Well done on your barre chords, Deborah, after only a little more than a year of playing. Nice song choice with Petite Marie, beautiful song, maybe you could use it later for Fingerstyle too.
Solid strumming on Rhiannon, a bit more accentuation and dynamics will surely coming with time, good job so far!

Yeah
I started being able to introduce the F barre in songs last october
Im pretty pleased being able to play Petite Marie now in such a short time
the song lacks fluidity / flow , but I guess thats how the easy beginners version is written ^^”

I can play without looking at the fretting hand so Im happy with my progress ^^

The blues is not easy , the B7 is tough ! ( I dont even talk about F7 )
Understanding palm muting is my big job of the moment

I struggle to land a good G on this song , still working on it

I need to find some new songs to practice since Im nearly done with some songs in my routine ( Mississippi Queen , the thrill is gone , and maybe Space oddity soon )

AH and I lowered my strap today
there were some notes that my pinky couldnt do and I felt it was the guitar being not in place so I lowered the strap
It worked !
I dont need to look at the fretboard as much as when I was beginning so the guitar being lower is a better angle
Will see tomorrow is the barre chords works too

Good! We’ve had the cool change that means we’re officially in Autumn now. I’m putting on jumpers in the evening, it’s amazing. And daylight savings just ended, which means better sleep for me.

I’m trying to get back into guitar, might be a while before I’m active here, but I’m trying to catch up on my unread topics.

Hope you can get a teacher for the summer!

Well Im afraid of having a summer as bad as yours and not being able to play

Oh, I hope you don’t get a summer like mine. Does it get very hot in France? I’ve had pretty bad insomnia this summer, so I think that made it a lot harder to cope with the heat, especially because by the time it was cool it was like 8pm and I was too exhausted to put much effort into anything. You’re very diligent and seem to be good with routine, so I think you’ll do better. Fingers crossed!

I might be active sooner. Just depends on life. I recorded my recent attempt at singing and playing Cherry Wine and standing up to do so, so I’ll review that and maybe pop it up as a WIP.

I’m trying to write a poem every day for NaPoWriMo, which goes all April, I have too many endeavours to choose from…

we re only in april and it’s already around 20° … it was even 25° C in Paris …
No rain either
Looks like a bad year coming !

we used to have summer around 25° / 31° C , now it s easily 30° to higher than 35° C
really hard to play with such heat ! as you say , you sleep badly and you re exhausted !

I ve been saving to buy a mobile Air con maybe it will help
but I also need a new computer …
Should I buy the laptop or the AC ?!!! Raaaah such a dilemma !
( the laptop is for playing guitar )

He also taught me this scale
