I’ve barely touched my guitar over the last month, so nothing to log. Shoulder is still giving me grief. I’ve got a physio appointment coming up soon so hopefully I’ll get back to it! Hope your surgery went well. :slight_smile:

@ConstanceClaire
is your shoulder pain only linked to guitar playing or does it bother you in everyday life as well ?

@Beatup6String
thanks ^^
posting my log really helps me to stay motivated
a bit like a diary I have to keep at the end of the day :slight_smile:
but it must be a bit dull to read lately ^^”

I hear you on the motivation. I keep a weekly practice log, checking things off each day and writing a little self review on Sunday’s. It’s been a good discipline!

yeah posting a little something does not seem much but in fact its a big help to stay focus on the guitar journey

It’s everyday life, but certain things aggravate it. After my scan they found a partial tear healing (I always wait ages to get things checked out hoping they’ll go away), and the tear was in the muscle that controls holding my arm up and out, like when you hold a guitar :confused:. Got a bit of bursitis, tendonitis, and impingement in there too, none of them severe but I suspect I moved the wrong way or something trying to compensate for one of them hurting. Who knows! Shoulders are tricky bits. Gonna get the physio to let me know what exercises I can/can’t do, so I don’t make it worse again.

Ah, the government runs well all over the world, I see… :roll_eyes:

@ConstanceClaire
its sounds like you right in seeking a physiotherapist opinion !
If there’s a tear you should go easy for the moment

its more than just a position issue :confused:

ah no its a different problem
the hospital took an appointment for me with the angiologist for a post surgery check up
problem is , I didnt chose the hour and I cant go at 6 pm because there are no more buses to come back home this late !
But my angiologist is retiring in a couple of months … his schedule is closed , he takes no more appointments
He doesnt have a secretary anymore so I have to go there to talk to him and see what can be done

I have a guitar lesson tomorrow , I ll be in town so Ill go to the hospital and try to catch the doc between 2 patients
looks like I wont have this check up done :confused:

Guitar lesson with my teacher today

I went to his home for the first time since my surgeries
life is back to its usual pace now ^^

We started the lesson with On the beach by Chris Rea
I showed him the part I struggle to play and he isolated a part of the backing track so I can just practice this part ( a slide )

Then we talked about Wonderful tonight
My mind stumble always on the same arpeggio
since its in the middle of the song it might be possible that my focus start to dwindle when I reach this part
the method is the same , I will isolate the problematic part and work on it until I have this arpeggio printed in my memory
I will also add the part just before and just after

so now in my routine I will have the whole songs to practice + 5 mins every day on the problematic parts

we finished on some Blues related issues ^^ ( BLIM log )

my next lesson with him should be about Blues ( may 12 )

I went to the hospital after my lesson and had my appointment changed , YEAH !!!
going directly to the doc worked :partying_face:
As I thought , he said that I must have that check up so he found he little place for me in his schedule.

Oh and I got a mail from my work announcing officialy that Im fired and how much I ll get from this
really not much money since its based on the last 15 months of salary … and last year was when I finally got a invalidity pension so I almost didn t work :confused:

Im a bit like @mattswain today , thats the end of an arc of my life
I won t draw anymore

That’s some kind of bitter sweet day for you with ups and downs

I guess at least with the work thing as you knew it was happening it does at least close the chapter even if it’s not nearly as much money as you might have hoped for. Glad that at least your appointment situation improved

Id say its all ups for me
we should all have been fired 5 years ago when the magazines were sold , but the new editor kept our jobs , it gave me time to prepare my future with a good case to get my pension !
I knew we were just on borrowed time , some magazines closed during these 5 years and it wouldnt be long before all of them go down the drain ^^”
in the end , even if its not much , I still get some money out of this so its all positive ^^

I ll put the money on the side untill I save enough to upgrade my kitchen

I just dont want to draw … after 17 years Im dont feel like holding a pen anymore
I just want to focus my energy and time on learning music ^^

What a fool I was , it took me the whole hour of practice for Wonderful tonight XD

( I spend 1 hour on WT and 1 hour on On the beach )

It’s a shame that you don’t feel that you want to draw any more but I understand it

Maybe that’s what I like about having an iPad as my main computing device - it doesn’t remind me of my work laptop!
