Late to the party Shane but what a “perfect” track for a freezing damp windy Sunday morning in Normandy. Sounding real good thought your vocals on this were superb and despite the comments about the phone, came across nice a clear over here. Great cover !
Shane, I’ve only now stumbled across this. It’s a song that I loved when I was a kid, and you delivered it beautifully. Did you sound exactly like Dobie Gray? No, you sounded like Shane, and it was phenomenal.
I feel emotional when I see and hear these videos, because I think, "Man, look at these people. They’re doing it. And if they can do it, there’s hope for me.
I admire the hell out of all of you - for putting in the hours and the work and for putting yourselves out here for others to critique and be inspired. It really works.
Now I need to go put fingers on strings.
Thanks for the listen, and the kind words Bob. Much appreciated.
Stick close to Justin’s tuition, and hang around here abit, and you’ll just keep developing. Many here are consistently advancing, and you certainly will too;
it’s just time and focus.
Have fun, ride the frustrating times, and be kind to yourself.
All the best.
Cheers, Shane
Shane, great rendition of Watermelon Man. I was in a one week jazz camp this summer at the local community college and we worked on this song, What’s Up by Miles and Song for my Father. I am 70 years old and I was grouped with three 14, 15 and 16 year old kids. They are amazing musicians and were so supportive. Confirmed my belief in the beauty of music and what peace and joy it brings to the world.
I digress, you inspired me to pull out the song sheet and have another go at it. I love the song but this showed me the potential that lies within.
As always, much appreciated.
