Rain (and autumn) songs

Probably one of The Who’s best songs, great vocals by Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon’s playing is also spot-on:

And those standards are not too high

Yes, you can find recordings of the community open mics here.

Try as I may, I can’t find the one with “only happy when it rains”. Maybe it was in the first mini online gig after all…

Oh…Nicole! Not yet!

I felt exactly the same when I woke up this morning to the grey November rain outside realizing that it’s back to work on Monday :flushed: Then Rogier’s comment… No . Noooooo… not yet

Luckily there is a cheerful summer rain song at least :sun_behind_rain_cloud:.

Most people who know the name will likely only to recall Cherry Red but their albums are full to the brim with tasty Blues tracks. Another band from my early teens ! :+1:

And in the 80’s you could see them all (not Christine McVie obvs.) in small pubs in South London including Steve Marriott. I remember standing right in front of Tony McPhee, me with pint in hand totally mesmerised. You need to take out a mortgage now just to buy a pint in a pub…

Chicken Shack with Christine:

It is an awesome symphonic song - The Who meet Emerson, Lake and Palmer - though to me hardly their best. It is a fine song with which to mute one’s strings and practice strumming patterns and dynamics.

I might have dropped a subtle hint :sunglasses: Thanks for picking up on it @stitch

How about: It’s Raining Again by (the underrated) Supertramp…?

Awww I ADORE that song, Nicole! And hadn’t listened to it in ages! Thanks for sharing!
Well, we’re first day of (meteorological) spring here, and the weather’s been gorgeous! :sun_with_face:  So I should probably share something related to the beautiful sunny days that we’ve got to look forward… but I wouldn’t want to depress my lovely northern hemisphere friends anymore than you may be already… :cloud_with_rain:  :joy:

I like that song a lot as well but hadn’t listened to it for years I guess :slightly_smiling_face:

Very considerate of you not celebrating those beautiful first spring time days in the sun. And while we are soon headed for the first snow here (snow in October is not unheard of), I’ll remember with a warm and fuzzy feeling that it will soon be summer in the Southern hemisphere :sunrise:

Hmm… On either side of the globe, let’s hope that September won’t be a too rainy one…

I never understood, why so many people get depressed or put themselves in a bad mood, when there’s dirty weather outside. I mostly enjoy those days, doing a lot of lonely walks with my dog or using the time for things like playing guitar, when it doesn’t compete with outdoor activities .
Nicole, this one is for you, it’s a song of German singer songwriter Rainhard Mey, who has a beautiful talent to describe all day situations and feelings in a most charming way.
For those who don’t speak or understand German, it’s an ode to joy for bad weather :kissing_heart:.
