Robs Learning Log

I’m beginning to think attempting Page or Randy Rhodes start of month 2 is a bit too optimistic

Hold that thought Rob but keep it in mind for later ! :sunglasses:

So I’m a couple scotches into the evening…

Popped into the guitar shop to grab some picks earlier ended up with a strap too for my acoustic.

Played my way through several acoustics and well met a new friend…

A Maton srs70c, gorgeous, sounds great. Its OK she’s still in the store. But at least I’ve a great option for an Xmas present haha what a guitar, might have to be the blackwood fronted version tho.

Worked through 3-4 lessons then this little nirvana number.

Dear diary, it was a dark and stormy day.

Wohooo I get to stay in and play!

Over 4 hours of messing around, in addition to About a girl above learned All apologies, plus Breathe by Pink Floyd plus a few other bits.

Still alive! Still playing, going slowly though grade 2, doing a lot of practice.

Really happy how my finger speed, chords etc is coming along, and finger tips, can play the acoustic for nice long periods of time now so thats what 6-7 weeks of playing?

Got stairway intro 100% down, babe Im gonna leave you is still a bit tricky.

Breathe (PF) going ok, and a bunch of Nirvana etc so plenty to strum along to which is my weak point still, much more about ear and feel than looking at strumming patterns.

Given the pics of your guitars and photography, you’re a guy that loves color! Your photography is stunning, by the way.

Thanks! Yeah never ever got the hang of B&W photography!

So trying out the intro to Joe Bossanmasa Blues delux last night.

Kinda getting the first quarter of it but wow does that hit your fingertips harder than a lot of the other stuff I’ve been doing, even on the electric (vs acoustic).

Is this what you were referring to Rob: Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe - YouTube

If so … fantastic

When you get the full intro under the fingers would love to hear and watch you playing it.

Meanwhile I shall continue dreaming of playing the blues as I try get on top of the gentle arts of bending and vibrato :anguished:

Yep thats the one, a handful of bars into it but its a good challenge and a stress test for the fingers! Will take an age to learn and I’ll prob play it with my own style and sound but trying to get closde.

Its one of those things that sounds effortless and jammed but its not but you have to play it relaxed

Listening to the whole album now. He is a wonderful player and none to shabby singer.

Enjoy the learning, I’ll keep on dreaming that maybe one day I might be up for such a challenge

I’ve no idea if I’m up to it I’ll play it slow for now, whta do I have to lose?

So Saturday I took my own advice after making it through half of the push strumming lesson and just not coping with real learning and just messed around.

An hour of blues twiddling based around Joe and some of this Must Know King OF Blues Riff - YouTube

Plus some 5 min each led zep riffs absolutely butchered. Crazy to think some of this written before I was born!

Sunday had a migraine tried to play in the afternoon and just couldnt cope

Hope you recovered from the migraine, Rob, such a curse.

ooh so no update for a bit!?

Working through some more module lessons (hammer ons, labamba) and this fun number

Just the kinda song I like too, easy to play around with the strumming and let loose etc

Still toying with the blues stuff which is great fun.

How have I missed these stunning images? I can only imagine where you’ll go with guitar Rob for clearly you have a discerning eye and the ability to catch a moment of magic in time. Add a discerning ear and voila, we have music to swoon over.

Further down the page now at another set of heart stoppers - your guitars. Just looking at them must give you joy and an invitation to make them sing or scream or whatever you fancy.

Then Tekapo image :open_mouth:

Some great songs about to land in AVOYP. Yippeeeeee
