Robs Learning Log

Thanks, I’ve an advantage as I played a lot when I was younger, and far from perfect yet either (wasn’t that great back then…) but so many great learning resources now

Well got to the end of Grade 2 at last! Some stuff is revision but a fair chunk of new (at least with my faulty memory). Slash chords, 7 chords, percussive hit (in a way)…

I also got somewhat distracted learning a bunch of Metallica, more blues, some other bits (Dee) and the Bohemian rhapsody solo etc.

But ready for a little consolidation and probably dig into a few more songs and build out that repertoire.

Until then there is this.

Well still here, still learning! At the end of grade 3 / module 15 now, mostly going ok

Kind of getting distracted a lot tho, tonight having a go at You shook me , by Zep, couldnt find a sounds I liked so I made my own, this is dirty af breaks up and screams, but does the job!

Oh likely picking up an amp at the weekend I can USB up to the PC and record so hopefully that solves that problem, I can record through reaper now but with so much lag I cant actually play, which isnt helpful!

Theres’s a lot of ‘pedal stuff’ around the amp but no matter where I click I can’t hear the sound

That’s a lot of gain dialed in. Is that what ‘scooping mids’ is?
Look forward to hearing rather than imagining the dirt
Congrats on the impending amp

I can probably do a recording of it, its a little scooped but its just a crazy fussy overdriven sound with a fair bit of short time echo.

A scooped sound is anything with the bass/treble pushed and the mid cut, I think this would count a little bit its not that hollow metal sound, its a a blues sound trashed to within an inch of its life.

Looks cool and I’m with Brian … I wanna hear it, Rob

OK my first recording on here! Managed to beat REaper into submission on lag not too badly so this was a little easier. Mostly mucking around so dont shoot me haha

Sounding epic, Rob, some fabulous heavy, driven tones. Most enjoyable. Well played. Thanks for sharing.

Nothing wrong with mucking around Rob. Nice fat tone on that, like it!

So yesterday I got stuck into learning all about the BB box, thats quite a rabbit hole!

Hope you took a torch

GPS dont work this deep in the blues!

tbh I was playing this some anyhow its quite a natural shape to throw in but I didnt know it was a thing!

Playing blues just keeps giving, so much scope, and the subtle timing and bending is such a challenge

Link the BB box and the Albert box and you’ll be in hog heaven. :sunglasses:
