Roger's rock on wheels

Hi Rogier,

Many thanks for letting me know.

I’m looking to add an headless guitar to my collection and have narrowed it down to the Ibanez or the Strandberg Boden Essential.

The reviews of the Ibanez look good, the only negative mentioned is the positioning of the output jack, some people say it can dig into the leg?

Can I ask about your experience how do you find the guitar and any issues with the positioning of the jack?

My existing main guitar is a fender American prof strat.

One final question did you look at Strandberg at all? if so any thoughts?

I do plan to visit my local guitar shop to try each model to finally decide but always good to get as much intel as possible

Anyway happy new year and many thanks

Gary

I have a Strandberg Boden Prog NX6. In addition to my comments in the initial days I had it, I find that the trapezoidal neck gets in the way of vibrato, and I have found the thinner neck at the nut end a little tight, so when I trade from a wider neck, I am really off for a little while and have trouble fitting fingers without muting adjacent strings.

Here was my NGD:

Hi Gary @Gazzathe1st

Of course I’ll let you know…just ask whatever you want

Never thought ( remember :see_no_evil_monkey: )how that neck profile could be so different …thanks for the input again Michael @sequences :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

You put me to work … I have just hung 3 completely different guitars around my neck … I have the guitars for 2 reasons hanging so high ,1 is my sitting position most of the time in the wheelchair and, among other things, missing a piece of hip and some other damage there what if any thing is leaning on it …well that can`t .

and it is precisely with the ibanez that the wireless transmitter ( or a cord ) comes the least close to my leg with the Ibanez because of the way smaller and way lighter body :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

For the rest, all 3 of these output jacks contain in the same place Just checked with transmitter and a cable assessed together with my wife…

All three of these have the socket at the bottom and not at the front of the body like my Fender PLayer…

for completeness the 3 tested in picture :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Yes, certainly, as said somewhere above, but not good because I had already forgotten about that neck profile… it is definitely on a wish list, but I first have to play it in a guitar shop a few times… but I have only been there once, 5 years ago… but fortunately you can see Michael’s post here, he can tell you all about it if you have any questions about that other beautiful lightweight guitar… for the rest, ask me whatever you want…

I wish you and everyone else who reads this a wonderfully QUIET new year with the only noise being a lot of music… (lots of fireworks here for days and hassle with police throughout the country, etc. many dogs and cats and an incredible number of other animals will soon die for a “nice tradition” and/or will literally be terrified and will not recover due to various injuries … a few people will die (the count is only at 1 here but it is early ) here many children have already lost their fingers last weeks or even entire hands, but many more limbs will be lost in a few hours, and eyes that will be amputated in a few hours too Emergency physicians and plastic surgeons in the Netherlands call this the ‘horror night’ … I could go on but for the sake of good mood I’ll stop…
happy new year

Use light drones or, if you want noise at 12 o’clock at night, set your guitar amp to 10 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: … keep safe :crossed_fingers:

Greetings …

I’ve just watched the Sydney Australia New Year fireworks on tv. 12 minutes long. I can only imagine how much that all cost and can only hope the income from tourism etc makes it all worthwhile.
Can’t help thinking the money could be better spent on other things. The same goes for however much the UK display will cost later on tonight.

Hi Gordon, @sairfingers

Happy New Year and may your guitar and vocals be heard here more than last year :crossed_fingers:

:scream: Here, only private buyers bought and lit 129 million euros for their own use and we are only with 18 million humanoids  (this is without the tens of millions of illegal fireworks from surrounding countries and municipalities and organizations that gave fireworks shows)…You can do something better with all of that,

and I don’t quite understand this sentence ?

O wait … just one guitar for so so so many people…and gear :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Here it was a horror evening and night and it was only at 5 o’clock this morning that we were able to go to sleep a little … never before so many injuries and so bad that it is for life voor 100+ people ( 2 dead yesterday and a few are now fighting for their lives) and violence against emergency workers … really ??? shooting fireworks at fire brigade people and ambulance personnel and other people who just want to help others ??? :exploding_head: :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

enough complaining from me … just a few more evenings and then I and many people who are very sensitive to this and animals, especially the animals, can go through the day calmly without stress, and now celebrate that the very worst day and evening of the year for us here is over again…

Happy winterdays :snowflake: :snowman:

Hi Rogier, I couldn’t help thinking of you last night…the mess you describe happening all over the world I’m afraid, here too despite the fact the law was strictier this year. I don’t get why the human being can be so foolish sometimes

Now, soon back to more productive and enjoyable guitar talks  there’ll be a lot to learn /play/share/enjoy in 2026! :guitar:

Happy winter days to you too, with warm teas, good readings and much much music and guitar practice :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Well, then lets do that and stay here in this small but full of music-filled save place …and while I am typing this snow is falling from the sky :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:( not not really to stay put as it is 1 degree above zero degrees, but the birds can eat from their roof snowy winter wonderland house :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s the same every year in Scotland Rogier. We have weather warnings on the news. We are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Get real! It’s winter, it’s cold, we live in Scotland, we are adults! We can look after ourselves. Clearly the powers that be worry that if we skid and crash our cars we will blame them for not putting salt on the road. As human kind we need to take responsibility for what we do!
Rant over. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
(too many New Year single malts. :joy::joy:)

live this alert…scaled up for the entire country…
Only go on the road if necessary …

so New Year’s visit to parents-in-law: NOOOooo

Selecting and buying a guitar: Yes
:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

8:45

9 O`clock I went to look on the other side of the window… you can see the tiles through it

They should make a “Code Roger”,

Open the door… and drive through the garden without any problems…like now…no problemo

Open the door… and the wheels get stuck after about 3 meters of plowing…“be careful on the road in the car, it can be a bit slippery, but have fun outside”

Open the door …The front wheel immediately sinks into the snow, by the time the rear wheels are outside and I can no longer get in independently. Now it’s code “don’t go on the road unless you need a guitar of course”

Okay, this was a nice start to my day…

Greetings :snowman: :sun: :droplet:

Do they make spike tires for wheelchairs? If not someone should invent those, plus a small snow plough that would lightweight, yet sturdy and could be easily attached and removed again.

Here it will be snowing lightly all day and it’s more or less business as usual:cloud_with_snow:

Gordon @sairfingers … Hmm… But it is mandatory to use winter tires on Scotland and snow in winter IS not uncommon?

More than 3.1 million kilos of salt have been spread since Thursday at 7 p.m. …about 1.2 million kilos of salt is needed “for a tour of the Netherlands”, during which the so-called national highways are sprinkled. …
source: Rijkswaterstaat.

Plants grow on/along the Dutch national highways and highways that used to only grow along the sea coast because they need very salty soil :see_no_evil_monkey:

Greetings,

And whil I type I see you incomming Nicole @JokuMuu

:joy:
That would be nice and I can’t imagine that there isn’t at least one weirdo who has that and also gets ahead independently… would like to try :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: …but in most cases we don’t get far that way… or very very very difficult…and mostly if there is a gravel path or loose sand of less than a centimeter …I shout …HELP ,…and then you have chairs like the one i have where there is no room for spikes, or without great danger that with every rotation of the wheel you will find your thumb in those spikes at least once.

I see that I leave the edges of life road a little too often…the “drive” hoop was uniformly black not long ago

:joy:  :joy:
I would do a “figurative” murder for this  :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: …and move to you or Andrea at least in the winter … because I think I was locked up for the first time for 8 maybe 10 days in 11 years (5 years ago or so …but mostly because the stuff iced and this is the 11th winter since we have a house and garden) …

I remember that we talked before about a snow plow for the wheelchair … when the winters bring more snow, I will have a friend engineer develop one for me … just for fun,

He also built a chair that allowed me to come down 47 steps from 3 floors to have dinner with 4 friends once when I was stuck in my apartment for a year.

Had nice thoughts thanks to the snow and you, thanks for that :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings

Aah … True… I didn’t even think about that… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I remember as well. Sounds like a great project. Maybe, it it would work well, you and your friend could get it patented and get rich :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well …He has been living in Spain for 2 years and has several houses there and 20+ in the Netherlands, driving a car that is more expensive than my house :upside_down_face:. If he does this, I sincerely hope that it will be completely non-profit when/if …

But probably because of this kind of thinking of mine, he has so many houses and I only have one :joy:

Have a great day ,I will go the snowstorm to pick up my new (reading) glasses, I broke the leg of the previous one 2 weeks ago while putting it on and taking it off while reading here… :nerd_face:I have a special one with anti-reflective lenses…and very importantly scratch resistant, because with a guitar behind the computer it is an up and down and I am not very careful (see my guitars) :scream:

Almost live attempt 2 by Boreas to keep me in the house :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s such a disappointment…no nice winter wonderland photos because when it stops it immediately melts away and this doesn’t form a nice layer…and from Monday my girl goes back to work so I don’t have to deal with centimeters of snow anymore as far as I’m concerned…

Bye bye :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Rogier, I can’t resist to send you a few pics from my latest trip to “Top of Germany”, the Zugspitze, our highest mountain, with a nice ski resort. Despite all the present struggles, I simply had to do a few turns into the fresh snow and it felt soooo good! I wished, you could come with Hermine to my home town and we could enjoy the view all the way to Italy and Switzerland over the alps!
For now, I hope you can enjoy my “snowy pictures”!

Greetings!

It’s not that it’s never beautiful here with a lot of snow…
I had to check the archives in 2017…

2019 is the last time with some real snow, I just heard… but I can’t find it… and I miss the blue skies, the mountains, the open snowy world…

and sorry, this is also a test for myself  whether posting from my photo archive on the computer to here works…If it works I’ll look for some more if I feel to  ( test one learned me a lot but I need to do something els :grimacing: ps: starts to understand this now works … how to post from my other archieve than a telephone after 4 years here in the new forum ,:upside_down_face:) …glad this works because my old phone got lost in the toilet and apparently luckily there is still something on the computer from the beginning…let’s see if I can find some music samples and riffs and even own songs and way more in the computer :crossed_fingers:…apparently I have uploaded more from phone to computer than I first thought

Greetings

Edit: 5 January 2026

Woke up this morning, the world was white again…my wife had to get to work…15 minutes before she left the parking lot…but glided safely to her spot… ( translated with a small addition, this is a good Blues text )

In places where it has not been blown away every time, there is a serious layer of water, but it should still be doable, with a few exceptions of course and as long as the frost is not too high and during the day :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Now: it looks nice, it’s a pity that it is always not possible to photograph the robin in the snow in the feeding house… :snowflake:

She is not happy … the first time years ago she saw snow she was very happy and even played in it … there is still a lot of fireworks stress in her

I spent at least 15 minutes looking for where/when it was… :upside_down_face:

and yesterday my phone fell into the water (the bad one :grimacing:)

and as is often the case, I didn’t say clearly at the beginning what had happened

I can laugh about it again now,( also that day :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) it didn’t matter much because my own chord music had probably already been arranged in that order according to chords in the key easy style

Cheers at sunnier times

I hope they are busy now :crossed_fingers:otherwise I won’t see my wife coming home today… she has a pub in her business premises…so she won’t mind it that much if :rofl:it’s getting a bit out of hand here and it’s still snowing (this was not the forecast in the weekend weather report)…

from behind my computer with guitar in hand I finally got a photo of that robin in the snow…a very shy, and busy German or Polish, in the summer others are here and they knows me better…

Below, the lighting is actually from the wrong side for the color, but it is a nice Silhouette

Don’t worry now…I will continue practicing the guitar again , but I wanted to take a photo with my guitar in the snow and a photo outside without it being photographed through the glass… that turned out wrong, :upside_down_face:

a photo without a guitar now and I plowed 1 meter outside the door…the guitar is behind me on the floor in the small shed/utility room and I won’t say more about it… ‘don’t try this at home’ :see_no_evil_monkey:

20+ minutes later… guitar is clean/dry and I say , have fun all :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
