Hi everyone,

We’re really sorry that a collection of our songs is missing from the songplayer at this moment in time. We’ve refreshed our song catalogue & licensing to help us improve the module songs and to be able to add even more songs to the app in future.

We are scheduled to add hundreds of songs to the app in the very near future and we have already replaced some of the older tracks with 400 new rock songs. Following on from this, we have implemented plans to add large batches of country & pop songs to the app every 2 weeks increasing the overalll song library.

We hope you can understand and that you enjoy the hundreds of songs that are available to you. Please ensure that your push notifications are active so that you are informed when new songs are ready to learn and rock out to!

If you’d like to request that your favourite (song/songs) are added to the app, we take song suggestions on our Upvoty board and you can post them here… Login

We will try our hardest to get the song/songs added back to the Justin Guitar app. However, licensing is a very complex process within the music industry and we cannot promise that the (song/songs) will be added back to the app.

This might be the case, but how come these songs are available on the website for free. And not on a payed for app?

Hi Ton - Where on the website are the backing tracks available for free?

Ok, you got me there.
Maybe my comparison isn’t really adequate.
And I don’t have a clue how all this works.
But for on autistic old guy this is a struggle!

Sorry, I’m done complaining. Live’s to short.

Toni @ToniMacaroni
Fortunately as part of the learning process for the five songs I had prepared sheets with the lyrics and chords, and was using the app to get the tempo right.

It’s great you are adding 400 new songs. Does that mean more of the existing songs will be going away? Repetition is supposed to make you better. If you keep rotating songs in and out, it is difficult to get the repetition you want. Plus, some of those songs removed are classics. For those of us that can’t sing, it’s nice to be able to play along with the vocals, and have others join in.

Please restore the songs that were removed.

Thank you.

More than half of my favorites disappeared with the app update and, from the looks of it, most of the songs included in the Stuck 3/4 lesson are now gone (currently working Grade 2 Module 8 material). Most Pink Floyd material is now gone, apart from Comfortably Numb (further narrows the WYWH app lesson I suppose), Poison is gone (Every Rose - stuck 3/4 lesson song). Very disappointing; feel bad for those that rely solely on the app for lessons when the song referenced in the lesson is not available in the app (I stick to the website for lessons).

Agree with you Brown eyed girl is a great song for beginners. I played it all the time a few months ago as it required getting some speed into the change from G to C and back again. I found that once I could do that comfortably most of the rest of the chord changes fell into place. Let’s hope it comes back soon.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Justin or Musopia have much control of the music licensing. They just have to comply and do their best to maintain the licenses.

I am sure they would prefer not to remove songs that they have spent valuable time and effort converting for the app. They are also annoyed, like you, when suddenly they are not allow to use the material.

I don’t know how to help or deal with it. Maybe sending a nastygram to a music label, but I doubt that would gain much traction.

It is still a great and useful app. Take it as an opportunity to learn new songs and new skills.

Creating chord and lyric sheets for the songs you are learning is a great way to learn them.

Those relying solely on the app for lessons wouldn’t know as the “Songs for Module #” is not included in the app modules. On the app the songs for the modules are whats on the app. It would be extremely annoying if you had just finished a Module and the song(s) you were learning as part of the practice sessions disappeared halfway through learning them.

Maybe it would be helpful if Musopia did what the TV streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime do where they give you advance notice when things are going to be removed from their streaming libraries.

Yes a great song. I came across it shortly after I started with Justin in his lesson on it and also that it is in the song book.
Must have been decades since I had last heard it but I knew straight away it was going to be one of the five. What took me a while to get right was when the change from GCGD to CDGEm took place. I have even put up a shortened version guitar only on AVOYP as well as the into riff. Hoping to include vocals version shortly

Just logged on to practice. Gutted to find American Pie has disappeared. I have been learning it ready to show off to a friend coming this weekend and now it’s gone. I read above that Brown Eyed Girl and three little birds have gone too. Not happy! Not yet seen if others of my favourites have disappeared yet. Can we please have our songs back!

Sorry I am perhaps a bit over my head here and I have no clue about licencing rights etc but wouldn’t it be possible to track on dev side which songs are most played/added to favs etc and which are least?

I imagine each song or bunch if songs might be charged separately to others but surely no need to keep songs that are less frequently played over to big hits like Wish you were here? That way you can make savings on songs which are actually not deemed interesting from app users. Just a thought

“Songs for Module #” is included in the app. In this instance, Poison’s “Every Rose…” was listed in here as it’s a Stuck 3/4 song that Justin mentions; it’s no longer available in the app, along with a slew of other songs this particular module had (“More Songs” had something like 6 songs, now it’s just two). I just think the app has lost some value in the lessons section with the removal of lesson-mentioned songs. Should note that the screenshot shows only 3 “Songs for Module 8” and a search button…used to be something like 6 songs listed here (Every Rose, Brown Eyed Girl, etc.).

Hi Scott,

What I am referring to is the following lesson which is not included within the app:

The “Songs for Module #” in the app I expect would update itself based on the songs available in the app at the time that have been assigned as songs for module 8.

So if you were to follow the app only and got to Module 8 today then you would only see the songs shown in the app assigned for that module. You wouldn’t be aware of the previous songs that were there for that module unless you had been playing them before reaching that module.

Whereas, if you look at the website lesson “Songs for Module #” its the list of songs suggested by Justin. So if you were following that video lesson and associated learn more section you would be misled that Every Rose Has Its Thorn and Brown Eyed Girl were on the app.

I see what you’re talking about. I guess what’s really happened is the gulf of disparity between the website and app has been widened as Every Rose and Brown Eyed are both Module 8 songs and both used to be in the app. I’m just glad I’ve always used the website for lessons.

I find it quite sad to loose so many songs that I liked … I was playing fingestyle (module 11) and there are only 4 songs left… It’s like we lost more than half of the module songs

Though I always use the web site for lessons, I am annoyed that a couple of songs I was using have gone.
As always use app for just for songs since January or so.

Brown Eyed Girl - for the C chord changes, just about there with it now though I would need to get on paper to get it exactly right.

With or without you - was using for F7, then maybe F.
How long is Rhiannon going to stay, which I am now using slowed down for the F.

I am also thinking the app is less generally good to find songs.

Maybe I will cancel the subscription for the app, will give it a chance though, as only seen the changes today.

Please find a way to bring back “21 Guns - Greenday”. I was making so much progress, and I can’t find any other resources that use the same chords that the app had. I am so bummed.
