I had 2 different '64 Pontiac GTO’s. First one was my uncle’s, 411 posi, Hurst shifter and McCloud clutch, 389 with 6 pack carb… sucker could really get up and go. Unfortunately, the brakes were nowhere near up to the handling that kind of acceleration! Now I am restoring a '40 Plymouth step side pickup, 6 volt positive ground and all!

I like it Frito!!!
( I also really like Fritos… every single time I see a post from you, I get hungry for some Frito Pie!!!)
How do you like the Gretsch? I considered getting one fir a while but instead ended up getting a D’Angelico hollow body that gives me chills… awesome tones from the P-90s!
By the way, love the avatar!!!

I like the Gretsch a lot. I got it back in 2017. At the time I only had my Sigma (Martin’s equivalent to Epiphone) 12 string. I wanted a six string and something that wouldn’t be as loud as a full acoustic but loud enough unplugged that it makes music. I don’t play it as much as I mainly play my 12 string and my Taylor 114e that I bought in 2022.

That being said, it is what I have played the past few evenings because I wanted to quietly practice in our family room vs. locked in my office where I have been spending WAY too much time lately.

I just found out about this topic. What a great idea. I wish I had seen it before.

I cant wait to go through and read all abot everyones name. I saw some cool art already @TheMadman_tobyjenner I will need to dig into that and see what its all about. I always have to decide what to use, I have a choice of names when I join places. I either go by my real nick name Nugget Man if its going to be some where where I know a lot of people of if people know of me or by my online nick name if I am just anom. As I didnt think I would know anyone in RL here, i didnt think Much beyond learning to play. I went with the online anon one. Funny, cause, I feel like I know a fair amount of the Justin’s crew in a very real way vs just online like other forums. many already call me Jason which is also Just fine.

I digress, back to my nick

Ontime. Any guesses?

Haha good guess. Yup it has to do with my punctuality. Or perhaps the informal nature of my punctuality with a mix of my really bad ADHD. :innocent:

I perhaps may sometimes use rally point time as a window, giving everything a plus or minus with my personal time scale. You know just in case events cause a delay (often). Which I am never in control of ( honest your honor🤚). I always make up for these short comings in ethusiasm and heavy stoke. And I give my all and will stay on the job or adventure until it is complete once I am there. I also never leave a Bro in the wilderness.

But there it is. Ontime Thats my name dont wear it out. (Haha I had to insert the gratuitous 80s high school joke.)

Thanks for letting me be part of this great community.

I was given it at birth. I honestly had no input on the matter. I’m quite happy with it. I come from a German family and my brothers names are Horst, Seigfried and Hans. Dad’s name is Gerhard, I’m lucky I didn’t get named mud guard. (Ozzie speak for a car fender).

Sadly nothing as exciting as the geographical feature or dark web browser!

Wee, because I’m a short arse (wee means little in northern parts of the UK).
Tors, because when my younger brother was a toddler he couldn’t pronouce my name properly and this is what he said instead. It stuck. My whole life

Which leads to another question…
Namely, what’s your first name? Or is it a secret???

Ok Tony!!!
I seem to remember your story from another thread a while back… something with a Volkswagen in it… right?

The ā€œMud Guardā€ thing is new to me though… maybe we should call you ā€œSchlammschutzā€!!!
At least that’s what my English/German translation app says!!!

Thanks for the response here!!!

Tod

Thanks for the response Nugget Man!!!
Now you have to reveal where ā€œNugget Manā€ comes from!!! Are you a rockhound? Amateur gold prospector? Nuggets in your noggin? :joy:
C’mon! You gotta give!!!

Hi Tod,

Let’s see. . . I chose my username because I love astronomy and space exploration.
I was a huge fan of Carl Sagan, but NDT not so much. I’ve followed the manned space program since 1962. And the number 70 was my age when I picked the username (now 71).

Cheers

Yeah, I was born in the USA only a few days after the family flew over from Germany when they migrated. Which made me the family VW being made in Germany and shipped to America. Apparently I was something like six weeks premature.

I have a certificate of appreciation from NASA for my tiny role in the Apollo 13 mission. I was stationed at Fort Irwin CA at the time. Goldstone Tracking Station was nearby. Demonstrators against the space program were out there protesting, and there was a rumor that they were going to try to shoot out the main tracking dish with a high-powered rifle.

My unit was assigned to do security at Goldstone. I was a radio guy, and I spent many hours at battalion HQ running the net control station. As most remember, Apollo 13 became a crisis. I don’t know how serious the threat to Goldstone was, but we were told that with all the crew were having to overcome, if anything happened to the main dish, that would be the death blow (literally) to the mission.

Shortly after, I was shipped to Viet Nam, so I was involved in two of the major historical events of the era.

Nothing as academic as the first, but as many concussions as I have had It almost could be the that last one.

Unfortunately the story of my real nick name will have to wait until another anniversary of my time here at Justin’s I do appreciate the curiosity.

Maybe I will write a good song about it. I could work a solid song out of that for real.

I will premiere it here on justin’s within the year. How does that sound?:call_me_hand:t2:

Wow! I’m honored to meet you, sir. In the space program, everyone’s role is important, even the ā€˜tiny’ ones. Probably the last time American industry got its act together. It was an amazing time. For me, it was the most important period in human history. Probably many people now just don’t get it.

I was relieved to not get sent to Viet Nam. My father served on river patrol boats. And an uncle and some friends got shipped over. I signed up for the draft, but the war ended before I was called up. I’m glad you made it out in one piece.

VicTORia

I don’t mind either Victoria or Tors but I’ve never been a Vicky. When people ask me why I just say, well, that’s not my name. You may as well call me Sheila or Mary as Vicky :woman_shrugging: funny how some things just are.

So what happened in 1962 or is there a search function on here so that I can find the answer
