This is one of my first recordings, from about 6 months ago, but I want to record this again soon after learning what I have since that time.
I have another thread with past recordings in it, but I haven’t figured out how to add links to the existing template. Please bear with me as I learn to navigate the site.
I kind of do my own thing with this song, but it’s one of my favorites to play!
Hi Travis,
It’s good to see that you are so enthusiastic about posting videos, Justin also calls for that in his newsletter,…but you post so much in a row that it’s getting a bit too much to keep up with and that’s why many of your videos have already been bundled in their own topic,… it’s a good idea that you post all your older work in that thread for the time being ,…
If you stands on your own avatar and then clicks on topic’s you can find the collection thread there …
Wish you lots of fun,
Greetings,Rogier
Have to agree with Digger, as soon as I heard the vocals, it cried Disturbed ! But hey that works for me as I love their version (and its more my range as well ). Well done Travis, enjoyed that.
Hoping to find others that also play this song/band. Cheers all! It’s really a piano song with some awesome lead fills by Zakk Wylde, but I am liking my rendition more and more.
Sound realy great ! Solid rythm. Good sound. Good left hand. Sing with style. Good intonation.
Man ! Bravo Travis ! You say just over 2 years !!! WOW ! You’re a natural. You motivate me to practice and see the light. Thank you.
That’s really nice of you to say @BigLuc !! I am technically at the 2 and a half year point as I started from scratch in May of 2020.
The truth is, I kind of feel like I’m just getting started. I have never wondered what I had to work on next or felt like I had a lack of options, for anything. I attribute a lot of that to Justin and how streamlined his course is.
However, I have also been intrinsically motivated since the beginning, and I was able to apply the drive that I have in other areas of my life to music, and I was lucky that happened at the very beginning of the journey.
I have hit many walls along the way—playing faster, strumming, making changes quick enough, the full F barre, sliding frets (was terrible at that tor a while), picking out the correct strings, etc. All of it really. But I kept my head down and was adamant about overcoming obstacles.
Also, I often play for 2 hours a day (hour of practice, mostly following Justin’s suggestions, and an hour of song work, because that’s the gravy and where it all comes together), and usually either Friday or Saturday night I play for 4-5 hours, almost always just song work. Those Friday and Saturday time slots have turned into gigs, and I’m actually often saying no to gigs because I don’t want to get completely wrapped up in that yet.
Keep working. Don’t stop playing. It’s going to be frustrating. I have been frustrated in practice tonight because I’m starting to work on bending, and I’m pretty bad at it. That’s probably my next hurdle. I say, bring it on!
