After years of creating more (rubbishy) threads than anyone else, Iāve been doing my bit to ādeclogā the Community, averaging less than one a month in 2025. I want a badge!
Although this song would slot in nicely in my Birth of a Band thread, Iām giving it its own, as itāsā¦
Wait for itā¦
Yes⦠BLUES!
Those who know me, are aware of how āunderwhelmedā I remain of this genre , but my son Tor opted for a 12-bar blues as one of his two song choices. He had no lyrics, so I had to make something up and suggested everyone in the band writes and sings a verse. Chris was the only one to take the bait (transparency declaration: ChatGPT may have been used by the lazy git)
This is the āsloppiestā of all the songs we recorded, with lots of bloopers, but it was also the most spontaneous and possibly the most fun. Itās the only recording we didnāt have a video for, so I collated our phone pics, spliced with bits of video from a different take.
I always enjoy looking through the windows into othersā lives and hope some of you do too
(Now Iām off to read the Communityās fine print on double-posting⦠)
Edit: Hereās a link to the whole playlist of the Copenhagen Basement Tapes Please listen responsibly and do not exceed 2-3 songs per day
Your song is just fine, besides itās clearly visible that you enjoyed playing it very much! Yeah, letās have fun and enjoy what we do in music, thatās a priceless thing life.
Oh, and one more remark: thank you for refreshing my memories of Copenhagen, where I spent a year a long time ago (1985-1986), and had a very good time there. I recognized some of the locations in your photos (wasnāt one of them taken from the Tycho Brahe tower?).
Yes, the Round Tower of Copenhagen. Our dad used to read us H.C.Andersonās fairy tales as children, and the 3rd dog in The Tinderbox famously had eyes the size of the round tower. The King used to ride up it in a horse-drawn carriage!
Brian, love it man! Love it!
Honestly, one of your best. Very enyoble from start to finish.
You are a closet Bluesman my friend, despite your protestations; and now the secret is out! Welcome to The Club.
You guys had the laid back, loosey-goosey groove, the cool lyrics; you the mentioned fun, the spontaneity. What else is there to great blues music than that?
Eagerly awaiting your next Blues production. None of this āone-hitā wonder, then retire nonsenseā¦
Aw, Shane, thank you, Mate
Hehe, the only way for me to play the blues, is to have everyone else play them⦠and tag along for the ride!
Your comment reminded me of our collab that stuff can kill you (again- a āhired gunā bluesy solo ). Another Denmark connection!
Iām off on two weeks holidays tomorrow and not bringing a guitar.
With all the Cph preparation and mixing aftermath, it feels like a long time since I did any hum-drum, point-and-shoot simple song learning.
Looking forward to getting back in the saddle upon my return.
@mfeeney0110 Cheers, Michael, made my day -
I think
Hey Brian, that was great to watch and listen to!
Thank you for sharing this and for me too, this is one of the big plus-ses of Blues⦠you can just jam alongā¦
Hi Brian,
Thereās no point in rushing me ā¦Iāll figure/vind it out on my own even if the topic had sunk quite a bit quickā¦
You were able to put in a lot of extra photos here and that was really great to see⦠so much action/seeing be done and the all things you all did, wowā¦
The best thing with this song is when things go wrong and you chat about it to push it in the ārightā directionā¦not done consciously here but a nice trick that you can use next timeā¦
Greetings and I wish you a fantastic continued holiday
Thanks for the bump @Socio otherwise Iād have missed this.
Brian youāre all over the place. āIām sticking to my LLā. āIām cutting down on threadsā. Canāt believe itās taken me a month to stumble over this one. Sorry about that.
Anyway that was a terrific blues jam and just goes to show you can be led astray when the family and friends muse takes you.
I donāt think it was sloppy, it was fun and probably one of the best collaborations you and the other Lego lads have put together.
Youāll really have to rethink your posting strategy here buddyā¦ā¦ only a dozen comments on this one. And itās terrific!
Perhaps itās not your posting strategy thatās at fault. I sometimes canāt believe the amount of drivel that gets posted on the site nowadays and gets huge numbers of responsesā¦ā¦Oops
For bringing to my attention that I omitted replying to friends
@domi7 Vielen Dank
Much appreciated. Havenāt seen as much from you recently, hope all is okā¦
@roger_holland, well, Iāve messaged you in the meantime, and I know you were going through a rough patch, but thanks again anyway⦠@Richtrfc ditto & get well soon
@twistor59 Cheers, Phil
Itās about as far away as you can get from the finely crafted prog-masterpieces you produce, but I think we get similar pleasure from our āwood and wireā
Hehe, we were struggling to get the recordings out of the 8-track. Kinda weird that only printers and electronic music interfaces use USB Aā¦
Hehe, not to worry, my friend, I know how to play ātagā when Iām feeling lonely
I havenāt settled on the LL being my final strategy/resting place, but am experimenting with it. Like you, I was a bit overwhelmed with the flood of posts and how fast they shoot over the waterfall. I was a bit embarrassed by the fact that I was the most grievous āoffenderā (excluding routine posts from Toby & the Team), even celebrating my 100 topic with a song
But more importantly, Iām glad you enjoyed the Syndrome blues It was certainly a lot of fun, and you know I live for the interactions, which this was full of.
There are two certainties in life:
Grüezi and yes, thank you!
Just dropped a very few words and likes in the forum during my holidays in Switzerland, visiting quite a few relatives ( I think I remember you once lived there for some time, so we might have some sweet memories in common regarding this country).
Now back home, I had the urge to start my DAW and record some guitar
And then, while reading your comment, I suddenly had the dream to record some blues song with you one fine day - and hey, possibly Rogier too @roger_holland !
Maybe so but you were never in it for the clicks until this
just teasing⦠for every topic youāve created youāve contributed to several otherās topics and continue to do so. Now youāre not that far from catching up with Toby and Richard.
I know!
I was saying this to Geraldine all weekā¦
I like to believe Iām more fascinated by the factors involved in what makes something āpopularā or not, than wanting actual views, but am also aware of our ability to deceive ourselves.
Like everyone else, I want to be liked by those I know/have a relationship with.
One downside to all those clicks is that I now have 40+ more āfollowersā on YT whom I would prefer not to have and who will all be quite disappointed in the rest of my contentā¦
Ah well, serves them right if they havenāt checked it out first
Hehe, Iām serious about the topic reduction stuff!
