After years of creating more (rubbishy) threads than anyone else, Iāve been doing my bit to ādeclogā the Community, averaging less than one a month in 2025. I want a badge!
Although this song would slot in nicely in my Birth of a Band thread, Iām giving it its own, as itāsā¦
Wait for itā¦
Yes⦠BLUES!
Those who know me, are aware of how āunderwhelmedā I remain of this genre , but my son Tor opted for a 12-bar blues as one of his two song choices. He had no lyrics, so I had to make something up and suggested everyone in the band writes and sings a verse. Chris was the only one to take the bait (transparency declaration: ChatGPT may have been used by the lazy git)
This is the āsloppiestā of all the songs we recorded, with lots of bloopers, but it was also the most spontaneous and possibly the most fun. Itās the only recording we didnāt have a video for, so I collated our phone pics, spliced with bits of video from a different take.
I always enjoy looking through the windows into othersā lives and hope some of you do too
(Now Iām off to read the Communityās fine print on double-posting⦠)
Your song is just fine, besides itās clearly visible that you enjoyed playing it very much! Yeah, letās have fun and enjoy what we do in music, thatās a priceless thing life.
Oh, and one more remark: thank you for refreshing my memories of Copenhagen, where I spent a year a long time ago (1985-1986), and had a very good time there. I recognized some of the locations in your photos (wasnāt one of them taken from the Tycho Brahe tower?).
Yes, the Round Tower of Copenhagen. Our dad used to read us H.C.Andersonās fairy tales as children, and the 3rd dog in The Tinderbox famously had eyes the size of the round tower. The King used to ride up it in a horse-drawn carriage!
Brian, love it man! Love it!
Honestly, one of your best. Very enyoble from start to finish.
You are a closet Bluesman my friend, despite your protestations; and now the secret is out! Welcome to The Club.
You guys had the laid back, loosey-goosey groove, the cool lyrics; you the mentioned fun, the spontaneity. What else is there to great blues music than that?
Eagerly awaiting your next Blues production. None of this āone-hitā wonder, then retire nonsenseā¦
Aw, Shane, thank you, Mate
Hehe, the only way for me to play the blues, is to have everyone else play them⦠and tag along for the ride!
Your comment reminded me of our collab that stuff can kill you (again- a āhired gunā bluesy solo ). Another Denmark connection!
Iām off on two weeks holidays tomorrow and not bringing a guitar.
With all the Cph preparation and mixing aftermath, it feels like a long time since I did any hum-drum, point-and-shoot simple song learning.
Looking forward to getting back in the saddle upon my return.
@mfeeney0110 Cheers, Michael, made my day -
I think
Hey Brian, that was great to watch and listen to!
Thank you for sharing this and for me too, this is one of the big plus-ses of Blues⦠you can just jam alongā¦
Hi Brian,
Thereās no point in rushing me ā¦Iāll figure/vind it out on my own even if the topic had sunk quite a bit quickā¦
You were able to put in a lot of extra photos here and that was really great to see⦠so much action/seeing be done and the all things you all did, wowā¦
The best thing with this song is when things go wrong and you chat about it to push it in the ārightā directionā¦not done consciously here but a nice trick that you can use next timeā¦
Greetings and I wish you a fantastic continued holiday
