Copenhagen Syndrome; The LEGO Lads (original) šŸ˜Ž

After years of creating more (rubbishy) threads than anyone else, I’ve been doing my bit to ā€˜declog’ the Community, averaging less than one a month in 2025. I want a badge!
Although this song would slot in nicely in my Birth of a Band thread, I’m giving it its own, as it’s…
Wait for it…
Yes…
BLUES! :open_mouth:
Those who know me, are aware of how ā€˜underwhelmed’ I remain of this genre , but my son Tor opted for a 12-bar blues as one of his two song choices. He had no lyrics, so I had to make something up and suggested everyone in the band writes and sings a verse. Chris was the only one to take the bait (transparency declaration: ChatGPT may have been used by the lazy git)

This is the ā€˜sloppiest’ of all the songs we recorded, with lots of bloopers, but it was also the most spontaneous and possibly the most fun. It’s the only recording we didn’t have a video for, so I collated our phone pics, spliced with bits of video from a different take.
I always enjoy looking through the windows into others’ lives and hope some of you do too
(Now I’m off to read the Community’s fine print on double-posting…)

Edit: Here’s a link to the whole playlist of the Copenhagen Basement Tapes
Please listen responsibly and do not exceed 2-3 songs per day

Your song is just fine, besides it’s clearly visible that you enjoyed playing it very much! Yeah, let’s have fun and enjoy what we do in music, that’s a priceless thing life.
Oh, and one more remark: thank you for refreshing my memories of Copenhagen, where I spent a year a long time ago (1985-1986), and had a very good time there. I recognized some of the locations in your photos (wasn’t one of them taken from the Tycho Brahe tower?).

Cheers Tomasz

My motto! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Yes, the Round Tower of Copenhagen. Our dad used to read us H.C.Anderson’s fairy tales as children, and the 3rd dog in The Tinderbox famously had eyes the size of the round tower. The King used to ride up it in a horse-drawn carriage!:open_mouth:

Brian, love it man! Love it!
Honestly, one of your best. Very enyoble from start to finish.
You are a closet Bluesman my friend, despite your protestations; and now the secret is out! Welcome to The Club. :guitar:
You guys had the laid back, loosey-goosey groove, the cool lyrics; you the mentioned fun, the spontaneity. What else is there to great blues music than that?

Eagerly awaiting your next Blues production. None of this ā€˜one-hit’ wonder, then retire nonsense…

Cheers, Shane

Aw, Shane, thank you, Mate
Hehe, the only way for me to play the blues, is to have everyone else play them… and tag along for the ride!
Your comment reminded me of our collab that stuff can kill you (again- a ā€˜hired gun’ bluesy solo ). Another Denmark connection! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
I’m off on two weeks holidays tomorrow and not bringing a guitar.
With all the Cph preparation and mixing aftermath, it feels like a long time since I did any hum-drum, point-and-shoot simple song learning.
Looking forward to getting back in the saddle upon my return.

@mfeeney0110 Cheers, Michael, made my day -
I think

You do mean the second of the three, don’t you :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

@DavidP Ta, David, ever so supportive.
Glad you enjoyed!

@Silvia80 Lo stesso, como David!

@batwoman Thank you, Maggie. Always a joy to hear from you
Many of us miss the days when you were a regular contributor.
Hope you’re keeping well :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Hey Brian, that was great to watch and listen to!
Thank you for sharing this and for me too, this is one of the big plus-ses of Blues… you can just jam along…

Hi Brian,
There’s no point in rushing me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:…I’ll figure/vind it out on my own even if the topic had sunk quite a bit quick…

You were able to put in a lot of extra photos here and that was really great to see… so much action/seeing be done and the all things you all did, wow… :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
The best thing with this song is when things go wrong and you chat about it to push it in the ā€œrightā€ direction…not done consciously here but a nice trick that you can use next time…

Greetings and I wish you a fantastic continued holiday  :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thanks for the bump James - I missed this first time round!
Love it - made me smile,

ā€œno USB-Asā€¦ā€
ā€œPlay that funky pianoā€ … organ starts playing

Nice one Brian more blues please!

Thanks for the bump @Socio otherwise I’d have missed this.
Brian you’re all over the place. ā€œI’m sticking to my LLā€. ā€œI’m cutting down on threadsā€. Can’t believe it’s taken me a month to stumble over this one. Sorry about that.
Anyway that was a terrific blues jam and just goes to show you can be led astray when the family and friends muse takes you.
I don’t think it was sloppy, it was fun and probably one of the best collaborations you and the other Lego lads have put together.
You’ll really have to rethink your posting strategy here buddy…… only a dozen comments on this one. And it’s terrific!
Perhaps it’s not your posting strategy that’s at fault. I sometimes can’t believe the amount of drivel that gets posted on the site nowadays and gets huge numbers of responses……Oops

Thank you twofold, James

  1. For the listen/thumbs up
  2. For bringing to my attention that I omitted replying to friends :open_mouth:

@domi7 Vielen Dank :grinning_face:
Much appreciated. Haven’t seen as much from you recently, hope all is ok…

@roger_holland, well, I’ve messaged you in the meantime, and I know you were going through a rough patch, but thanks again anyway…
@Richtrfc ditto & get well soon

@twistor59 Cheers, Phil :grinning_face:
It’s about as far away as you can get from the finely crafted prog-masterpieces you produce, but I think we get similar pleasure from our ā€˜wood and wire’
Hehe, we were struggling to get the recordings out of the 8-track. Kinda weird that only printers and electronic music interfaces use USB A…

Hehe, not to worry, my friend, I know how to play ā€˜tag’ when I’m feeling lonely :grinning_face:
I haven’t settled on the LL being my final strategy/resting place, but am experimenting with it. Like you, I was a bit overwhelmed with the flood of posts and how fast they shoot over the waterfall. I was a bit embarrassed by the fact that I was the most grievous ā€˜offender’ (excluding routine posts from Toby & the Team), even celebrating my 100 topic with a song
But more importantly, I’m glad you enjoyed the Syndrome blues  It was certainly a lot of fun, and you know I live for the interactions, which this was full of.
There are two certainties in life:

  1. I like to laugh
  2. My guitar will never cry

Grüezi and yes, thank you!
Just dropped a very few words and likes in the forum during my holidays in Switzerland, visiting quite a few relatives ( I think I remember you once lived there for some time, so we might have some sweet memories in common regarding this country).
Now back home, I had the urge to start my DAW and record some guitar
And then, while reading your comment, I suddenly had the dream to record some blues song with you one fine day - and hey, possibly Rogier too @roger_holland !

Maybe so but you were never in it for the clicks until this

:winking_face_with_tongue: just teasing… for every topic you’ve created you’ve contributed to several other’s topics and continue to do so. Now you’re not that far from catching up with Toby and Richard.

I know!
I was saying this to Geraldine all week… :open_mouth:
I like to believe I’m more fascinated by the factors involved in what makes something ā€˜popular’ or not, than wanting actual views, but am also aware of our ability to deceive ourselves.
Like everyone else, I want to be liked by those I know/have a relationship with.
One downside to all those clicks is that I now have 40+ more ā€˜followers’ on YT whom I would prefer not to have and who will all be quite disappointed in the rest of my content…
Ah well, serves them right if they haven’t checked it out first

Hehe, I’m serious about the topic reduction stuff!
