Thanks for that. :+1:
TBH, I was sort of expecting something like Grandad’s Little Diddy by Primus, but it’s nothing at all like that! Which is very good, because that would have been totally out of character with everything else I heard.

I’m a great Beatles fan, but production/video aside, this song (for me) is no better than most originals posted here on the forum
If this wasn’t Ringo, or his advanced age, I doubt if many other than friends and family would give it a spin…
And the lyrics?
“Live to fight another day…”
doesn’t sound like
“Good things are gonna come your way!”
(N.B. The last time I complained about Beatles lyrics, I ended up writing my own ‘improvement’.
I won’t be going down that hole again  )

I don’t think we are expecting, or at least I’m not, Billboard charting albums from Ringo at his age.

I believe that for Ringo these last few albums have really been more about working with artists he admires or younger performers he’d like to draw some attention too. In this case Molly Tuttle, Billy Strings, Larkin Poe, and Lucius.

@brianlarsen, I don’t think these qualify as Beatles lyrics - most of the songs on the album were written by T Bone Burnett (also no youngster)…on this song credit is additionally given to Daniel Tashian. Ringo is just doing what Ringo has always done - gratefully and generously riding the wave that life has given him! Oh - and spreading peace and love :peace_symbol: :v: . It’s fine to not want to observe him doing that…but I need the smile at this moment! Of course, I sometimes listen to William Shatner sing too…but for different reasons…

Hehe, I suspect Mr. Starkey’s offering hit me on one of my more ‘disgruntled’ days
I have nothing but respect for anyone who makes music and shares it, esp. if it how they make their living. If your message is peace & love… even better.
And T-Bone Burnett is a fab producer with exquisite taste to boot.
I suppose I was just disappointed with the cake, given the fine ingredients

Also this, if you want to hear Joan ‘shred it up’ on her latest album. and it’s all her from writing/producing through mixing and all the instruments (guitars, drum programming, and keyboards). She also did a full blues album back in 2007 I think that you might want to check out. A bit different from her more usual singer-songwriter stuff.

Resist

Janis Ian: One of the greatest songwriters of all time; delivering fantastic music with an important message. “Resist” is from her last ever album of new songs, “The Light at the End of the Line”. Please watch this.

And watch the astonishing solo, live performance, with fantastic acoustic guitar, here.

As the person in the comments said, I’m running out of adjectives to describe how great Larkin Poe is

My wife commented that she was glad he did wear the cowboy hat the whole video.

I did remind her that Paul and Linda owned a large ranch and recording studio here in Tucson Arizona for afew decades but, yeah i dont think they were breaking bucks or branding calfs in the dirt with white leather.

:joy::rofl:

Quick aside. Our community loved Linda McCartney she was a real advocate, the university has a photography building named after her. We went to one of her photography exhibits a number of years ago. RIP.

Learned of a new (at least new to me) band today called “The Band Feel”, this one is “Call it what you feel” from their debut album last year.

Listening to a little reggae. The sound track to the movie the Harder the Fall is solid if you wamt to good stuff.

This is one from my childhood

Wow, they’ve improved a lot over the last few years! Thanks for sharing.

For myself, I’ve been listening to a lot from these bands lately (in alphabetical order):

  • Black Sabbath - never really listened to them before, so catching up on the classics
  • Ghost - e.g. Faith, Watcher in the Sky, etc.
  • Mastodon - e.g. the entire Leviathan album, etc.
  • The Pretty Reckless - e.g. Death By Rock and Roll, Take Me Down, etc.

Yeah, they’re doing well, a couple of years ago they toured with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless in Canada - on one of the last gigs of the tour Lzzy Hale gifted Dany a Custom Gibson Explorer similar to her own, it was a pay forward from when she was gifted one by Jason Todd of Shinedown, he told her to gift one to someone who inspired her to want to play better like she had with him.
Then when they were on tour with Muse Matt Bellamy gifted her a Manson Oryx in a unique colour - Mustard yellow, a one off (he’s a co owner of Manson). This was for being a great opening group for them and for her amazing guitar skills.

New album is amazing.
