Have you named your guitar(s) yet?

Road Kill is an excellent name Tony, gave me a laugh.

Ha, nice topic. My main acoustic is a Martin OMCPA4, bought it in 2012. I was looking at a slightly more modest expenditure, but there was a catch. I remember I was looking at a Seagull S6.

My wife, who is very sensitive to high pitched sounds, and can hear what ordinary mortals canā€™t, needed to be there, kind of said - no she didnā€™t like the Seagull. Isnā€™t there another you could try. So I pulled the Martin and a Taylor 300 Series from the rack and played those, both acoustically and with an acoutic amp. WE decided, it would be the Martin, on account of its bright sound. (The Taylor was warmer and boomier in sound) Long story, short ending, the Martin is officially called Klara. (To distinguish it from the Fender F1 from 1978) I did not name the other guitars I have though.

Interesting to see how many people actually name their guitars and other things. Me, personally, have never been into naming dead things. I also rarely grow overly attached to them, so I tend to sell them off with no regrets when a new and better thing comes on my radar. To me they are simply toolsā€¦ tools that Iā€™m fond of, and enjoy holding and using, but still just toolsā€¦

Well, I already told yā€™all I named my black acoustic ā€œJohnnyā€. I just got a Donner Hush-I silent/travel guitar from my dad as a birthday present. Iā€™m thinking of calling it either "Loretty (for Loretta Lynn) or Olā€™ Hank (for Hank Williams, Sr). Any thoughts?

Congratulations on the silent guitar. I had a yamaha silent guitar for some years and only recently sold it. They are a great option. I named mine charlie, after Charlie Chaplin, the star of the silent movie era. Lorretty or Olā€™ Hank sound good, I think it looks more like an Olā€™ Hank, cause having it along just makes you hanker to play more.

 very apt. If that were mine (dont tell the wife !!!) Iā€™d call it Black Betty after the Ramjam Band

I name my guitars, none of them come when I call but I name them anyway,
Ibanez GRG 170DX, ā€œIreneā€ named after the call sign that launched operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down)

Fender acoustic, Eve Mary
Gibson Les Paul Faded Cherry 2018, Lucille
Gibson Les Paul Slash signature (November Burst) Lily Rose
The last 3 in this list are named after ladies I know :innocent:

 no,

Had that happen to me in the UK last year. Rented a BMW after riding Harleyā€™s. I learned quickly when you hit the accelerator on a Beemer you better be pointing exactly where you want to go!!

Good one. Iā€™m a big fan of the older beemers. Have an R75/5 that Iā€™ve owned for over 20 years. Getting it was certainly an education. Iā€™d sold my last big jap 4 a few years before, partly because i knew the massive power would sooner or later get me in trouble. When I rode with other rides I knew all too well my riding lack of skills was significant as I used the power and brakes instead of my brains.

Joined a BMW owners club and took a rider safety course. It also taught me how to ride much faster (which was not my intent). The exhilaration I used to get from going too fast on the big jap 4 changed to the exhilaration of taking a corner well.

Lucky for me I started riding late in life. Otherwise I wouldnā€™t be here today :sunglasses:. Iā€™ve got a 2007 softail custom that I threw a bunch of chrome on during COVID after watching Easy Rider a couple of times. Chromed it out like Billy Bike!

Riding courses are good, Iā€™ve taken several. Been in Colorado for six weeks and did some riding but spending every day practicing scales, blues riffs and going over modules 1 & 2. Just celebrated year 1 on the journey!

Yeah, I hear you. I had a lot of great experiences on the motorbikes Iā€™ve had, but even better are the guitar experiences.

I donā€™t have names for all of my guitarsā€¦ just a few. I donā€™t have a silent guitar either but if I did, Iā€™d name her Helenā€¦

Short for Helen Keller!!! Or, Helen of Troyā€¦ or Helen Mirrenā€¦ or Helen Reddyā€¦

Well, maybe not Helen Reddy, she was pretty outspoken!!!

You could call it Helen for Helen Keller when itā€™s unplugged, but the silent guitar has a great pre-amp and you could call it Helen for Hellen Reddy when itā€™s plugged in!
